Installation Steps
Step 1: Measure and Cut the Trims
- Measure the corner area to determine the required length of the corner trim.
- Cut the trim to size using a mitre saw for clean, precise edges.
- If connecting trims at wall edges, cut the ends at a 45-degree angle to create a neat mitred joint.
Step 2: Position the Trim
- Place the corner trim over the exposed edge of the decking or cladding to check the fit.
- Ensure it aligns neatly with adjacent trims or boards.
Step 3: Secure with Screws or Adhesive
- For Screws: Pre-drill and countersink holes 13mm from the edge of the trim, spaced every 300mm. Use A2/A4 stainless steel screws for durability.
- For Adhesive: Apply CT1 adhesive along the trim, being careful to avoid getting adhesive on the decking or cladding surface.
-
Combination: Alternate screws and adhesive every 150mm for optimal security.
Step 4: Allow for Expansion
- Leave an 8mm expansion gap between trims and adjacent boards to account for natural material movement.
Tips for a High-End Finish
- For visible screws, use coloured screws or screw caps to match the trim colour, available from local builders' merchants or shops like Screwfix.
- For composite decking projects, Pair your corner trims with matching fascia boards and composite bullnose boards to achieve a polished look.
- Use composite materials that match your decking or cladding for the best visual result!
