The Freefoam 10mm Solid uPVC Soffit Board, also known as a General Purpose Board, is designed to finish and protect the underside of the roofline between the fascia and the external wall.
Its solid, flat profile creates a clean soffit finish and is available in a wide range of widths, making it suitable for everything from standard domestic eaves to deep soffits and large box-end details.
Supplied in practical 5 metre lengths, the board is low maintenance, easy to cut on site and available in several popular Freefoam colours and woodgrain finishes.

How Is Soffit Board Installed?
The board is normally installed horizontally beneath the eaves and fixed to suitable timber soffit bearers or supporting battens. The fascia forms the outer roof edge, while the rear of the soffit is finished against the wall using the appropriate Freefoam trim or support detail.

Measure the soffit depth first
Measure from the rear support position to the fascia so you can choose the correct board width. -
Provide suitable support
The soffit should be fixed to sound, correctly positioned timber supports rather than left unsupported across large spans. -
Cut boards accurately
Boards can be cut on site using suitable fine-toothed cutting tools. -
Use the correct finishing trims
Joints and perimeter trims help support board edges and produce a cleaner roofline. -
Allow for normal uPVC movement
Follow Freefoam installation guidance for fixing centres and expansion allowances.
Important Ventilation Note
This is a solid, non-vented soffit board. Where the roof construction requires ventilation at the eaves, suitable separate ventilation must be provided, such as a ventilation strip or another approved roof ventilation method.

Choosing the Right Width
Do not simply guess the soffit size. Measure the actual underside of the roof overhang from the fascia back towards the wall or soffit support.
Narrower boards suit compact eaves, while the 300mm, 405mm, 450mm, 500mm and 605mm options become particularly useful on deeper soffits and larger box-end details.

Is the board vented?
No. This is the solid Freefoam General Purpose Board. If roof ventilation is required, separate ventilation must be incorporated or a purpose-made vented soffit board should be used.
Can the 5m board be cut down?
Yes. It can be cut on site to suit the required soffit depth and roofline dimensions.
What are the wider boards used for?

Do I need soffit trims?
