Zinc downpipes are usually chosen by people who don’t want callbacks, replacements, or faded plastic running down the side of a building in five years’ time. They’re a long-term choice — visually cleaner, structurally stronger, and designed to work as part of a proper zinc rainwater system.

We stock zinc downpipes in both natural zinc and quartz zinc, available in 80mm and 100mm sizes, with next working day delivery on stocked items. If you’re replacing an existing zinc system or installing new zinc guttering, these downpipes are designed to integrate cleanly and drain efficiently. We also have a range of matching zinc hoppers.

Natural Zinc or Quartz Zinc Downpipes?

Both finishes perform the same — the difference is how they look, and when.

Natural zinc downpipes arrive with a bright metallic finish and gradually weather to a soft, matt grey. It’s a slow, even process that gives buildings a natural, lived-in appearance over time. They come in 3m lengths but can be cut down if needed.

Quartz zinc downpipes are pre-weathered, so they arrive darker and more uniform from day one. These are often chosen for modern builds, extensions, or projects where the rest of the zinc already has a mature patina. 

If appearance consistency matters immediately, quartz zinc is usually the safer choice. If you’re happy to let the system age naturally, natural zinc does exactly that. We produced a helpful guide on comparing natural and quartz here. 

Choosing The Right Size: 80mm or 100mm

In this collection, we supply the two most commonly specified zinc downpipe sizes in the UK:

• 80mm zinc downpipes – ideal for standard domestic properties, smaller roof areas, and typical gutter runs

• 100mm zinc downpipes – better suited to larger roof spans, higher water volumes, or exposed elevations

If you’re matching an existing zinc guttering system, size compatibility is important. Over specifying slightly is rarely a bad thing — underspecifying usually is. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to help confirm the right size before you order.
