Eared pipes are fixed using large-headed pipe nails into wall plugs.
Uneared pipes require fixings like holdfasts, pipe brackets, or earbands—all of which are available from us.

Primed vs Pre-Painted Hargreaves Cast Iron Guttering – Which Is Right for Your Project?
As one of the UK’s leading suppliers of Hargreaves cast iron guttering, we offer both primed and pre-painted options to suit a range of project requirements and budgets.
Pre-painted cast iron guttering is factory-coated with a high-performance, three-layer paint system, delivering a smooth, durable finish that far exceeds typical on-site painting results. This finish has been developed specifically for cast iron, ensuring a longer lifespan and reduced maintenance. Available in classic black as standard, pre-painted guttering is ready to install and typically delivered within 2–3 working days — ideal for fast-track projects or listed building renovations where appearance and longevity are key.
Primed cast iron guttering, on the other hand, is a more cost-effective option. Supplied with a temporary grey oxide primer, these components must be painted on-site before or immediately after installation to prevent corrosion. This gives you the flexibility to match or contrast the finish with your existing architectural style, which is particularly useful for heritage properties or custom paint schemes.
Whether you choose primed or pre-painted, our full range of Hargreaves guttering products is manufactured to BS460 standards for traditional cast iron rainwater systems, ensuring robust performance and timeless aesthetics.
Why Choose Hargreaves Cast Iron Guttering?
Hargreaves cast iron systems are renowned for their 100+ year lifespan when properly installed and maintained. With robust resistance to physical damage, thermal expansion, and UV exposure, they outperform lightweight alternatives like aluminium or plastic—especially in harsh UK weather.
Manufactured to BS 460 standards, Hargreaves' Premier Rainwater range is ideal for listed buildings, conservation areas, and traditional new builds. It replicates the original sand-cast iron profiles found on period properties, making it a top choice for planning and conservation officers.
We supply the complete Hargreaves range—including gutters, downpipes, fittings, hoppers, joints and custom architectural castings.
Whether you’re restoring a Georgian townhouse or specifying a drainage system for a stately home, our team is here to help with advice, stock availability, and fast nationwide delivery.
