It's important to note that the 4mm and 6mm options are typically utilised for vertical applications, such as shed windows or smaller frames like cold frames. Therefore, if you're looking to cover a larger structure like a pergola roof, it is advisable to go with the 10mm polycarbonate roofing sheet option for optimal performance.

The affordability of 4mm twin-wall polycarbonate sheets makes them an excellent choice for temporary glazing or protection on construction sites. Their inherent durability, owing to their polycarbonate composition, offers a reliable solution for short to medium-term applications.

While 4mm sheets do not require glazing bars or joiners, proper installation remains essential. It's crucial to use a compatible polycarbonate sealant specifically designed not to harm the sheet's surface, unlike aggressive adhesives.

These sheets can be easily customised to fit your needs using a fine-tooth blade.

Can I use these for roofing sheets?

For smaller DIY projects, these clear 4mm sheets offer an economical choice. However, when it comes to roofing projects, we strongly advise opting for 10mm twin-wall polycarbonate sheets or thicker. This is because the 4mm polycarbonate sheet may lack the required rigidity and resilience against adverse weather conditions and wind.

Why Choose Polycarbonate Sheets?

Polycarbonate stands out as a versatile material with a multitude of benefits. Its strength is remarkable, being up to 200 times stronger than glass, yet it weighs only half as much. This remarkable combination of strength and lightweight properties makes it an ideal choice for various applications. Not only is it durable and long-lasting, but it also surpasses the manufacturer's ten-year warranty.

Polycarbonate serves as an excellent glass alternative, offering safety and ease of handling. Opting for clear sheets ensures exceptional light transmission, and they can be easily cut or drilled as needed. Thanks to its lightweight nature, installation is a breeze, and its UV stability, at least on one side, prevents any unsightly yellowing over time.

FAQs

How much fall is required?

Regarding the product's pitch, there is no specific minimum requirement. However, it's worth noting that a steeper pitch is more effective in ensuring rainwater runoff. This not only enhances waterproofing but also minimizes the risk of debris like dirt and leaves accumulating on the roof. Typically, a minimum pitch of 10 degrees is considered standard best practice, though in certain situations, a lower pitch may suffice.
