Description

The Freefoam 350mm 2D Gable Finial is a decorative roofline trim designed to create a neat, traditional finish at the apex of a gable, where the two sloping bargeboards meet.

Freefoam specifically describes the finial as being fitted at the pitch of the gable to finish the bargeboard junction. 

Its flat 2D decorative profile covers and enhances the meeting point between the bargeboards, giving the roofline a more finished appearance without the maintenance associated with timber decorative details.

Where is it Used?

  • At the highest point of a gable end
  • Directly over the junction between the left and right bargeboards
  • On pitched roofs where a decorative finish is wanted rather than leaving a plain bargeboard junction
  • Particularly useful for traditional-style rooflines, porches and prominent front-facing gables

How to Install

  • Install and securely fix both bargeboards before fitting the finial.
  • Cut and finish the bargeboards neatly at the gable apex.
  • Position the finial centrally over the point where the two bargeboards meet.
  • Check that the decorative top is vertical and aligned with the centre of the roof pitch.
  • The wider lower section should sit neatly against the bargeboard area and cover the junction.
  • Trim or adjust the surrounding bargeboard detail where necessary to achieve a close, tidy fit.
  • Secure the finial to a sound bargeboard/substrate using appropriate roofline fixings, taking care not to over-tighten and distort the trim.
  • Use colour-matched or concealed fixings where possible to maintain a clean finished appearance.
  • Check alignment from ground level before final tightening, as even a small amount of rotation can be noticeable at the roof apex.

  • This is a decorative finishing component and is not intended to structurally connect or support the bargeboards.
  • The bargeboards must be securely installed independently before the finial is fitted.
  • The finial should be centred carefully at the apex for the best visual finish.
