Description
The Freefoam 400mm uPVC Fascia Capping Board is an extra-wide 10mm cover board designed for roofline refurbishment where the existing timber fascia or backing board is still sound and suitable to remain in place. Rather than carrying out a complete fascia replacement, the board creates a clean, low-maintenance uPVC outer face over the existing structure.
At 400mm wide, this is one of the deepest cover boards in the Freefoam range. It is particularly useful on properties with substantial fascia depths, deep eaves or larger roof details where standard 200mm, 250mm or 300mm boards simply will not provide enough coverage.
Why Choose the Freefoam 400mm Fascia Cover Board?
-
Extra-deep 400mm coverage
Designed for large existing fascia faces and deeper roofline details where narrower capping boards are unsuitable. -
10mm fascia capping board
Purpose-made for covering sound existing fascia rather than acting as a structural replacement board. -
Full 5 metre length
Helps minimise joints across long roof runs and gives larger elevations a much cleaner finish. -
Low-maintenance uPVC
Provides a smart exterior face without the regular repainting and staining associated with exposed timber fascia. -
Excellent choice of finishes
Available in contemporary grey and black options as well as green and traditional timber-effect colours. -
Can be cut on site
The 5m board can be trimmed to suit individual roof dimensions and detailing. -
Matching Freefoam accessories available
Compatible fascia joints, corners and finishing components help achieve a professional completed roofline.
Available Stocked Colours
- White
- Anthracite Grey Foil
- Anthracite Grey Smooth Foil
- Black Ash
- Matt Black Smooth Foil
- Chartwell Green Foil
- Irish Oak
- Light Oak
- Mahogany
- Rosewood
The wider colour selection makes the 400mm board useful for both modern and traditional properties. Anthracite Grey and Matt Black suit contemporary windows and guttering particularly well, while Irish Oak, Light Oak, Mahogany and Rosewood offer a more traditional timber-effect appearance.
When Would You Need a 400mm Cover Board?
A 400mm fascia cover board is generally used where there is a particularly deep section of existing fascia to conceal. Choosing one sufficiently wide board usually produces a far better finish than trying to make up the required depth using several narrower sections.
Because the face is considerably wider than a standard fascia board, it is especially important to check the existing backing carefully. The timber behind should be straight, secure and in good condition so the finished 400mm board sits neatly across the full depth.
Cover Board or Full Replacement Fascia?
-
400mm Reveal Cover Board – 10mm thick
Used to cap a sound existing fascia or suitable supporting board. -
400mm Magnum Fascia – 18mm thick
Used where the existing fascia is removed and a full replacement fascia is required.
If the timber behind is rotten, loose, badly split or otherwise unsuitable, it should not simply be hidden with a new cover board. The underlying roofline should be repaired or replaced before the uPVC fascia is installed.

Important Installation Advice
The 10mm board is a covering product and should not be treated as the structural fascia itself. It needs a sound and securely fixed fascia or suitable backing board behind it.
Gutter bracket fixings should pass through the new uPVC fascia and secure properly into the supporting timber behind. With a board of this depth, careful setting out and adequate support are particularly important to achieve a straight, professional-looking finish.
It is also sensible to inspect the soffits, eaves ventilation and condition of the roof edge while the fascia is exposed. Any required ventilation should remain clear after the new roofline has been completed.
Delivery Information
Stocked colours are normally delivered within 2–3 working days from the point of order. Larger quantities and certain UK delivery locations may occasionally require a little longer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 400mm board a full replacement fascia?
No. This is a 10mm uPVC fascia capping board designed to cover suitable existing fascia. A full replacement project normally requires the appropriate 18mm Freefoam Magnum fascia.
Why would I need a 400mm fascia cover board?
It is intended for particularly deep roofline areas where narrower 250mm or 300mm boards do not provide sufficient coverage.
Can it be installed over wooden fascia?
Yes, provided the existing timber is sound, securely fixed and suitable for over-capping.
Can the 5m length be cut down?
Yes. The board can be cut on site to match the required roof dimensions.
What colours are available?
Stocked options include White, Anthracite Grey Foil, Anthracite Grey Smooth Foil, Black Ash, Matt Black Smooth Foil, Chartwell Green Foil, Irish Oak, Light Oak, Mahogany and Rosewood.
Are matching trims available?
Yes. Matching Freefoam fascia joints, corners and other roofline accessories are available separately.
