Description

The Freefoam 600mm Flat Fascia External Corner Trim is designed to create a neat, professional finish where two flat fascia boards meet at an external corner. Its double-ended profile covers the cut edges of both fascia runs, removing the need to create a perfectly finished mitred joint on site.

The 600mm length is particularly suited to deeper fascia and box-end applications, including fascia boards over 300mm deep, and can be cut down to the required size during installation.

How to Install

  • Install and securely fix the two fascia boards forming the external corner first.
  • Cut the fascia boards so they meet neatly at the corner while leaving the required allowance for uPVC expansion and contraction.
  • Freefoam's installation guidance requires an expansion allowance at fascia corners; its fitting literature specifies approximately 6mm at each board end.
  • Measure the depth of the fascia or box-end and cut the 600mm corner trim to the required length using a fine-toothed saw or hacksaw.
  • Position the trim over the corner so that its two sides cover the cut ends of the adjoining fascia boards.
  • Ensure the trim sits straight and flush against both fascia faces before fixing.
  • The corner trim should be secured to one fascia board only, allowing the other board to move naturally with changes in temperature. Freefoam's certified installation guidance specifies fixing the corner trim to one board in the same manner as a fascia joiner rather than rigidly locking both boards together.
  • A suitable low-modulus neutral-cure silicone can be used as part of the fixing/detailing arrangement while still allowing the uPVC to expand and contract.
  • Check the finished corner is straight and that the trim completely conceals the board ends and expansion gap.

Please Note

  • This is a finishing trim, not a structural fixing for the fascia.
  • Both fascia boards must be independently and securely fixed to suitable timber/support before fitting the corner.
  • Do not rigidly fix both sides of the corner in a way that prevents normal thermal movement of the uPVC.
  • The 600mm version is particularly useful for fascia boards over 300mm deep.
