About Lindab Magestic
Lindab Magestic is an enhanced version of galvanised steel used for rainwater systems and standing seam applications. It uses the same reliable Lindab designs but features a robust magnesium zinc alloy coating.
Galvanised steel is the most eco-friendly option for rainwater systems. Magestic minimizes the impact on zinc resources and has less than 25% of the zinc runoff into soils compared to traditional hot-dipped galvanised steel. Advances in technology have enabled the use of magnesium in Magestic to form a stable barrier that protects the porous zinc from corrosion factors. Salt spray tests show that it offers the highest level of surface protection among metallic coated steels. Magestic provides over twenty times the corrosion resistance of conventional hot-dipped galvanised steel. Its unpainted metal gutters naturally adapt to their environment, developing a dark grey metallic finish within 3-5 years of installation.
Magestic's corrosion resistance is not affected by the chlorine levels in the environment. Natural exposure tests have shown it to be more than three times as resistant to corrosion as standard galvanization in marine settings. Its galvanised coatings also migrate to repair any red rust on cuts and scratches. Due to magnesium being more anodic than zinc, Magestic's sacrificial properties are more effective than those of standard galvanization.
