Why people choose Lindab copper (beyond how it looks)
Copper obviously gets chosen for appearance — but that’s not the whole story. Lindab’s system is engineered steel-grade precise, just made in copper.
It doesn’t rust.
It doesn’t flake.
It isn’t usually affected by coastal air or pollution.
Over time, Lindab copper guttering should in fact turn from bright copper through darker browns, eventually settling into a muted green-grey patina. No maintenance required. No treatments needed. It just… happens.
If you’re working on a heritage property, a contemporary build that needs warmth, or a project where longevity matters more than initial cost, copper often makes sense. Especially when you don’t want to revisit the gutters again.
Sizes, compatibility, and getting the system right
Lindab copper guttering follows the same proven sizing logic as the steel Rainline system, which makes planning easier. We also produced a Lindab guttering measuring guide.
Common options include:
100mm, 125mm, 150mm and 190mm copper half round gutters
Copper downpipes in 75mm, 87mm, 100mm and 120mm
Full range of offsets, brackets, outlets and shoes
If you’re unsure, most domestic properties pair 125mm copper gutters with 87mm copper downpipes. Larger roofs or exposed elevations may need more capacity — and that’s where stepping up a size pays off. It’s usually better to overspec slightly than regret it in heavy rain.
Installation notes (worth knowing early)
Copper installs much like steel, but it rewards patience. Lindab components are designed for proper mechanical fixing, clean joints, and long-term stability. Once installed, movement is minimal — and that matters with copper.
One thing people often ask: can I mix copper with other metals? Best avoided. Lindab copper systems should be installed as a complete system to prevent galvanic reaction. Stick with copper throughout and you won’t have issues.
Lead times & ordering
Copper isn’t a “grab it off the shelf” product — and that’s expected.
Typical lead time: supplied to order
System-based ordering: gutters, downpipes and fittings designed to work together
Consistency: ordering everything at once ensures colour and finish match as the system ages
If you’re planning a full system, it’s worth ordering in one go rather than piecing it together later. Copper changes over time — and starting together means it changes together.
Is Lindab copper guttering worth it?
Honestly? It’s not for every project. But if you want a long-life rainwater system, minimal maintenance, and a finish that improves rather than degrades — Lindab copper guttering makes a lot of sense.
It’s practical.
It’s quietly premium.
And once it’s up, you’ll probably stop thinking about it altogether — which is sort of the point.
If you want help checking sizes or planning a full Lindab copper rainwater setup, just shout. It’s usually easier to get it right before anything turns up on site.
