Summary:
Installing Lindab guttering requires careful planning and precise execution to ensure an efficient and durable rainwater drainage system.
Below is a summarised guide to assist you through the installation process:
1. Planning and Measurement
-
Roof Area Calculation: Determine the total roof area to select appropriately sized gutters and downpipes. For roofs up to 50 m², use 100 mm wide gutters with 75 mm diameter pipes. For areas between 50–100 m², opt for 125 mm gutters with 87 mm pipes. Larger areas may require 150 mm or 190 mm gutters with corresponding pipe sizes.
-
Bracket Placement: Install brackets at intervals of 600 mm, with end brackets positioned 100 mm from the roof edge. Ensure a gutter slope of at least 2.5 mm per meter towards the downpipe for optimal water flow.
2. Tools and Materials
- Essential tools include pliers, a hammer, hacksaw, screwdriver, folding rule, string, and a bracket bender. Use stainless steel screws suitable for the building material of your façade.
3. Installation Steps
-
Bracket Installation: Adjust the fascia brackets to match your roof pitch. Fasten the highest bracket at the starting point and the lowest near the downpipe location, maintaining the calculated slope. Use a string line between these points to align intermediate brackets.
-
Gutter Preparation: Place the gutter in the brackets and mark the position for the outlet (OMV). Cut the opening using a hacksaw or metal-cutting hole saw (avoid angle grinders to prevent damage). Attach the outlet securely and fit stop ends (RG) as needed.
-
Gutter Assembly: Position the gutter sections in the brackets, ensuring they snap into place. For longer runs, join sections using self-sealing gutter joints (RSK), pressing the seals firmly to prevent leaks.
-
Downpipe Installation: Measure and cut the intermediate pipe connecting the gutter outlet to the first bend, considering the required angles. Attach pipe holders (SSVH) to the wall at maximum 1.5 m intervals, ensuring vertical alignment. Connect the downpipe sections, securing them with the holders, and finish with a shoe (UTK) at the base.
Maintenance
Inspect and clean the gutter system biannually, removing debris to prevent blockages. Wash components with water and mild detergent; avoid high-pressure washers. Promptly touch up any damaged coatings with Lindab’s repair paint to extend the system's lifespan.
